Kenai, Alaska

Miles driven from Seward to Kenai was 105.3.  When I left Seward, it was 56 degrees, overcast with a very light misty rain. It was partly cloudy when I arrived at the campground.  We also went through a long stretch of road which was under construction and required a Pilot car to guide the traffic through the work zone.

In Kenai we had free time to explore on our own and we also had dinner cooked for us at the campground.  Dinner included chicken, salmon that was caught in the nearby creek, and crab legs.

We also had great conversation around a big bonfire.

I visited the Soldontna Homestead Museum.  There was a young woman working there that was a fountain of information of the history of the area.  There were many old items to be viewed and they also had cabins on site that you could walk through.

One of the buildings on site was an old school.  In this school room they had a U.S. Flag with 49 stars.  It was cool to see.

Since we purchased Alaska from the Russians, there is a deep history of the Russian people.

I visited a Russian Orthodox Church.  There were two of them.  I don’t know his title, but the Father or Priest was in the one church talking about its history.

Next stop is Homer, AK
