Skagway, Alaska

Today we boarded a fast boat for a one hour trip from Haines, AK to Skagway, AK.

This was also the beginning of folks in our travel group starting to become sick.  Since some folks were not feeling well or isolating, we only had about half of the group go on this tour.

We boarded a school bus that took us to the Haines-Skagway Fast Ferry.   It was about a one-hour ride to Skagway.

Once in Skagway we were free to explore the town and have lunch on our own.  I enjoyed a bowl of seafood chowder at the Bonanza Bar and Grill.  It was pretty good.

Skagway is not a big town, so it was easy to walk around and check out the shops.

At 1pm we boarded the White Pass-Yukon Train.  We had one train car for our group and there was plenty of room to spread out.  There was also an area between the train cars that I was able to stand and get photos of the scenery and train.  We also passed the area where the US and Canada meet.  The views were beautiful.

After returning to Skagway, we again had some time to walk around town or grab some dinner.   I went to dinner with a few others from the group and enjoyed some shrimp.

We returned back to the campground around 7pm.   It was a fun day!

Next up, we return to Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada
